A Beginner's Guide to Starting a Brow Business – From Idea To Launch!
Are you thinking of ditching the 9-5 grind and starting your own brow biz? Well, good on ya! The beauty industry is booming, and there’s no better time than now to follow your passion and start something of your own.
If you are looking to be in charge of your work schedule, be in control of your income potential and work from home (if you choose) you are in the right place! In this beginner’s guide, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know to launch your own successful brow biz.
Step 1: Do Your Research
First things first, you need to do your research. Take a look at the market and your competitors. What sets your offerings apart? Is there a need for your services in your area? What are the current trends in brow grooming? These are all important questions to consider before you dive into launching your biz.
Step 2: Choose Your Business Model
Now that you’ve done your research, it’s time to choose your biz model. Will you be a solo artist, renting a bed in an existing salon, or opening your own storefront? Each option has its own set of pros and cons, so it’s important to weigh them carefully. You can choose to start slow, work from home and build clientele along the way too, it’s exactly how I grew my beauty business.
Step 3: Build Your Brand
Your brand is everything. It’s how people will recognize and remember your biz. Make sure your brand reflects your personality and style. Consider hiring a graphic designer to create a logo, biz cards, and any other branding materials you may need, alternatively look at free websites like Canva.
Step 4: Get Your Business Licenses and Permits
Before you can legally operate your brow biz, you’ll need to obtain any necessary licenses and permits. This may vary depending on your location and biz model, so be sure to do your research and get everything in order. You’d hate to be penalised down the track somewhere for doing the wrong thing.
Step 5: Stock Up on Supplies
To run a successful beauty biz, you’ll need to have all the necessary supplies on hand. This includes brow pencils, waxing strips, tweezers, lash lift serums and more. This will of course depend on what services you decide to offer but be sure to make a list of everything you’ll need and stock up before your launch.
Step 6: Spread the Word
Now that everything is in place, it’s time to spread the word. Use social media to promote your biz and showcase your work. Think about who you can reach out to that work in customer service or have a similar type of clientele. Hairdressers, receptionists, and nail salons to name a few. Consider offering a discount or promotion for first-time clients to get people in the door.
